Ukrainian Bride Convention

A dark rushnyk-embroidered towel is one of the most significant customs in Ukrainian weddings. It symbolizes cleanliness and hope for the future. During the meeting, the bride and groom move on it. The person who first touches it is regarded as the family’s brain. Traditionally, before the couple walks on it, one of the mothers ( or godmothers ) spreads it on the floor.

A conventional Ukrainian wedding bash typically occurs two or three days before the ceremony itself. The ladies had the opportunity to sew periwinkles, plant ritual trees, and perform sad folk songs during this time. Today, these parties typically include visiting a night club as well.

Before the national church wedding meeting, the man may visit his coming in- laws to “ransom” his spouse. He was accompanied by his father and other female family who presented scarves and rushnyk to the planned ladies. He subsequently bargained with the Bride’s family, asking questions and receiving presents in transfer. The vicar’s household may even attempt to supplement other ladies for the Bride until he paid a ransom.

Numerous guests who toast to the brides during the greeting give toasts to them. Every bread ends with the word”hirko,” which means “bitter,” indicating that the brides should love because like does add sweetness to the harsh things in life. The pair even consumes a bowl of wine as a sign of their coalition and wishing them good fortune in the future.
